Sorry for no updates this week, but we’re very busy rehearsing new songs for SXSW! We leave on Saturday and drive a million hours. Maybe you could just watch this insane video instead?

Can you figure out all the bands?
Subnormality (part of Virus Comix) is one of my favorite websites. Certain things there will seriously change your life.

So this is a bit late, but there was a snow storm in DC. Two snow storms. Unfortunately, the 930 Club show with La Roux was cancelled because of… well, this:

That’s after spending the night shoveling and cleaning every hour or so.
Luckily, the show has been postponed to July 25th when the sun will be shining and the only ice will be in our mixed drinks.
In other van news, we had to say farewell to that good van we called Jigglypuff. He/she, (sex is still unknown) has been left in the fine town of Manchester, CT to be parted and sold on the black market. Although I’d like to say Jigglypuff will be missed, he/she won’t. Expect to see us rolling up to shows in two mid-sized sedans with instruments and limbs sticking out of the windows.
One last thing to share. We are quite fortunate to be asked to play at colleges all over. These shows are always incredibly fun. They’re hot, sweaty, drunken parties packed with kids where the idea of the night aligns perfectly with the idea of the band: Let’s have fun together! After going through my camera, I’ve selected a few photos that commemorate these fun filled nights. Enjoy!

In honor of the US/Canada tour with La Roux finishing up, here is our cover of “I’m Not Your Toy” - one of our favorite tracks from Elly & co.

Montreal was a serious mind bender. I don’t think we’ve ever played for so many people. The crowd would best be described as “ravenous.” They were going nuts from the opening DJ all the way to the last note of La Roux’s encore - then everyone stuck around and partied at the venue until late.
We spent the day rummaging around downtown Montreal and found an amazing mini mall with a gourmet food court. Needless to say, we ate lunch, dinner, and breakfast there. When you’re on tour, the day is basically 1) wake up 2) eat 3) sound check 4) eat 5) play show 6) eat. In a good way, though.
More good news: Ben Rowland, photographer to the stars, has joined us on the road. He takes amazing photos (he did our most recent press shots) so check him out at benrowlandphotography.com - He’s shot some crazy high profile people.
Finally, all of us are writing a movie about a kid who inherits a mall and has to bring it back from the edge of financial ruin with the help of a ragtag gang of employees. Along the way he discovers that maybe the mall is more than just a place to shop - maybe it’s a place to make friends, grow up, and learn a little something about himself.

Quebec City.
The Imperial was amazing. Massive venue, more like an old theatre really. We had a long trip and arrived roughly three hours late but still got it together in time for the show. Afterwards we went next door with the La Roux dudes (and ladies) for drinks. The staff of the venue showed up too and we all BRO’D OUT. Many terrible one-liners were exchanged; what is Beethoven’s favorite fruit? BA-NA-NA-NAS.
This morning we were eating at a Tim Hortons (a better Dunkin’ Donuts, for those not in the club) and a huge eighteen-wheeler backed into our van. Everything was fine but it was scary seeing the van slide across the parking lot like a toy. Karma is neat - we’re currently rolling deep in the Montreal Hilton. Pretty sure the rest of this night involves Chinese food and the hot tub.

The airport in Chicago is one of the best airports ever. It just seems really modern and efficient (as far as airports go.) Also, there is a little booth that sells popcorn fused with caramel and various kinds of nuts. So, that’s super awesome.
Lincoln Hall is a newish venue in Chicago operated by the same guys who run Schubas. It’s great. Like, really great. They served us huge burgers with jalapeños baked in. And instead of fries, it came with tater-tots, the kind from elementary school! Sorry I’ll stop talking about food now.
The show was fun - right in the front there were a bunch of people who thought Zach looked like someone from the Doors. I can see it, to be honest.
We’re actually in Canada right now. Quebec City. Just finished playing a show at the Imperial - the venue was massive and the crowd was amazing. More tomorrow, fellow space explorers!
